JRIG Director Dr. Francisco Magno led the plenary session on integrating the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in DTI's programs and activities. Dr. Magno highlighted how these local and international frameworks could inform agency-level strategies and priorities and also discussed the importance of localization and how it must be integrated along with these development frameworks to ground a more holistic approach in their projects.

Following Dr. Magno's plenary session was JRIG Visiting Fellow Prof. Ed Nuque's overview and gap assessment session that jumpstarted the Strategic Planning Activity. In his plenary, he highlighted the relevance of aligning DTI's programs and projects with the PDP and the SDGs, underscoring the contexts laid by Dr. Magno.

The plenary sessions were followed by breakout sessions that involved cluster planning on DTI's main program areas on International Trade and Exports, Industry Development & Investment Promotion, Competitiveness, Enterprise Development and Competitiveness, the Supply Chain, and Consumer Protection.

The cluster planning sessions involved a "catch ball technique", which is a management technique where members of the cluster "throw" and "catch" ideas and suggestions back and forth until a common agreement is achieved. The sessions were facilitated by JRIG Program and Research Associates (PRAs) and all outputs were presented to all the participants.
