PRESS RELEASE: DLSU, UP hold historic collaboration on SDG Localization and Governance

MANILA CITY, PHILIPPINES – The University of the Philippines and De La Salle University - Manila are set to hold a 2-day roundtable discussion on SDG Localization in local governance, which is set to happen on June 25-26 at the UP Diliman AIT Lobby (Day 1) and at the Philippe Jones Lhuiller Conference Room, 14F, Henry Sy Sr. Hall, DLSU Manila (Day 2).

Co-hosted by the University of the Philippines - Centre International de Formation des Autorités et Leaders (UP-CIFAL Philippines) and De La Salle University - Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance (DLSU-JRIG), the UP-DLSU Inter-University Roundtable Forum on Governance and SDG Localization aims to convene academic experts, local government unit (LGU) representatives, and institutional partners in a multi-stakeholder dialogue of their experiences, best practices, and practical insights on SDG localization and governance.

The event will feature keynote addresses from Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Manila City Vice Mayor Angela Lei “Chi” Ilagan Atienza-Valdepeñas, Department of Economy Undersecretary for Legislative Affairs Atty. Glenda R. Rumohr, and San Juan City Mayor and League of Cities National President Francisco Javier “Francis” Manlapit Zamora. 

Panel discussions led by professors, scholars, and local government representatives will also take place, covering specific SDG Localization topics on JRIG & UP-CIFAL's institutional innovations, governance pathways, and policy coherence, as well as possible university-LGU co-creation models towards sustainable development.
